Xiaomi has opened a new beta program for HyperOS, its replacement for MIUI. Available globally, the Beta Tester Recruitment scheme is free to join and seemingly offered without restrictions.

Xiaomi has kicked off its gradual move from HyperOS away from MIUI, with the company releasing the POCO X6 Pro globally last month running the former rather than the latter. Additionally, it recently expanded its HyperOS rollout to eleven devices, including the older Xiaomi 12T Pro and POCO F5 Pro (curr. $519.99 on Amazon). Moreover, Xiaomi has now opened a program to recruit those who want to test early HyperOS builds.

Previously, Xiaomi attached certain conditions to participating in its Beta Tester Recruitment schemes. However, it appears that no requirements exist this time around, other than being asked to run Global ROMs. In a forum post, Xiaomi explains that you can sign up to receive beta updates by heading to the Xiaomi Community app, selecting 'ME' and then 'Beta Testing'. Also, the company has issued the following warnings before moving to HyperOS beta builds:

  1. The Beta Testing function is still under testing stage and will be opened to all users soon. Please wait patiently if you don't find it.
  2. Please back up your data before upgrading [Mandatory].
  3. The stable ROM beta tester recruitment will start on the Global site first (You can switch site by clicking ME-->Set up-->Change region in the Xiaomi Community app), and recruitment for different models and versions will be conducted gradually. If the beta testing recruitment you want is not available, please wait patiently.
  4. To upgrade from MIUI to Xiaomi HyperOS, please make sure that your BL lock is in the locked state. If you have locked your BL lock but still couldn't upgrade, please go to the local sale store for further checking.
  5. If you have registered and became a beta tester through our recruitment posts published in Xiaomi community before, we'll retain your beta testing permissions for a period of time. And we strongly suggest you to apply again through the current method "Xiaomi Community --> ME --> Beta Testing", because it will be more convenient for you to check your beta testing permission status.

Furthermore, the company stresses that beta testers should use the Services & Feedback app to report bugs rather than using other channels. Unfortunately, other details about Xiaomi's new beta recruitment program remain unknown for now. Instead, the company insists that doing so will allow people to 'experience new features earlier' through over-the-air (OTA) updates.
