Xiaomi teases new global flagship smartphone release with possible Xiaomi 14 Pro camera samples

Leakers have now turned their attention to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. However, Xiaomi has not released any Xiaomi 13 series successors outside China yet. In short, it seemed that a global Xiaomi 14 series would occur at the start of 2024. For context, Xiaomi presented the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro six weeks before the first anniversary of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro.

While Xiaomi never confirmed the switch to an October release for its current flagships, this was likely made possible in part because of Qualcomm's decision to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 a month ahead of schedule. Thus, with the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro appearing at the end of February 2023 alongside the Xiaomi 13 Lite, a re-branded CIVI 2, it was originally assumed that the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro would receive a global launch about six weeks earlier into the year than their immediate predecessors. Not only has that not come to pass, but Xiaomi has only just begun implying that is preparing any new flagships.

Currently, the company has only highlighted its Leica strategic partnership on its Indian social media accounts rather than also on its global equivalents. Nonetheless, Xiaomi is expected to use MWC 2024 in Barcelona to showcase the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro globally, which runs between February 26 and February 29. As far as we can tell, these have been taken using the Xiaomi 14 Pro, which has an f/1.4 - f/4.0 variable aperture primary camera, as well as a 75 mm telephoto camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
