Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: First teardown shows larger telephoto camera and cooling system
PBKReviews, not JerryRigEverything, is often the first YouTube channel with durability and teardown videos on the latest smartphones, in this case, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The same tester already put it through its paces and treated it with sand and a grinder. The drop test also showed that Gorilla Glass Armor is not reliable drop insurance either, even though its resistance to scratches and, above all, its optical qualities have been greatly improved.
But now it's time to take a look inside the new Samsung flagship. According to PBKReviews, the Galaxy S24 Ultra (available here on Amazon with pre-order deals) achieves a fairly high score of 9 out of 10 for repairability, although extra care must be taken when removing the display to avoid damaging the cover glass. The teardown not only reveals the mainboard with the now larger 5x periscope telephoto, but a look under the flexible AMOLED panel also shows an expanded cooling system consisting of a larger vapor chamber and additional graphite pads.
Modular design, easy removal of the battery
Samsung has adopted the modular design with a double-sided mainboard from the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and the battery, which is very easy to remove thanks to pull tabs, can also be found again in the brand new manufacturer's flagship. This model is most likely a US version, as mmWave antennas were also found in the titanium casing, which are presumably missing in European versions.
