The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra appears to have a significant advantage over the iPhone 15 Pro Max when it comes to display clarity under bright lights. Thanks to the new Corning Gorilla Armor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra reportedly handles reflections much better than the Apple flagship resulting in improved image quality.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones on January 17 at its Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event. The Galaxy S24 series includes a compact Galaxy S24 as the cheapest device, a bigger Galaxy S24 Plus, and the ultra-premium Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, being the most expensive S24 device in the lineup, features a different design and a bunch of notable hardware improvements over the base models.

Among the hardware enhancements, the 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen is perhaps the most important one. The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s display boasts a 3088 x 1440p resolution, 1 to 120 Hz refresh rate, and an astounding 2600 nits of peak brightness. Additionally, the display is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Armor. Samsung claims that the Gorilla Armor coating on the Galaxy S24 Ultra minimizes reflections by up to 75%. As it now turns out, Samsung’s claim might have some merit to it.

Per multiple images posted on X by famed leaker Ice Universe, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is demonstrably less reflective than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The images show the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s display to be more vibrant with markedly less glare than the iPhone 15 Pro Max which looks washed out in comparison.

In line with Ice Universe’s report, smartphone reviewer SuperSaf and media outlet SamMobile also note the Galaxy S24 Ultra to be less reflective than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

All in all, coupled with a higher peak brightness of 2600 nits vs 2000 nits, the Galaxy S24 Ultra should deliver a decisively better outdoor viewing experience than its Cupertino rival.
