Motorola Moto G04 arrives as new budget smartphone running Android 14
Motorola has quietly launched the Moto G04, roughly a month after MySmartPrice leaked over thirty promotional images of the same device. As expected, the Moto G04 resembles the Moto G24 that Motorola also announced today, as well as the Moto G Play 2024 that debuted a week ago. Accordingly, the Moto G04 has a modernised design with a camera array that blends into its back panel.
In short, the Moto G04 relies upon the same entry-level Unisoc Tiger T606 chipset that Motorola included in the Moto E20 from late 2021. Other similarities exist between the pair too, including 10 W wired charging and a 1,600 x 720-pixel native display resolution. However, the Moto G04's IPS panel is 0.1-inches larger at 6.6-inches and also outputs at 90 Hz. Additionally, the Moto G04 has a 5,000 mAh battery, plus 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable storage.
Moreover, Motorola has included 16 MP rear-facing and 5 MP front-facing cameras, which are both limited to 1080p video recordings at 30 FPS. According to Motorola's press release, the Moto G04 ships with Android 14 rather than the Android 11 Go Edition, upon which the Moto E20 was based. The company adds the former retails for €119 in the Eurozone and will eventually be available 'in the coming weeks' across Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Middle East markets.
