A YouTuber compared the Galaxy S24+ (Exynos 2400) and Galaxy S24 Ultra's (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy) gaming performance. Both phones performed identically, with the Snapdragon faring better at Call of Duty: Mobile and the Exynos at War Thunder.

Initial Exynos 2400 leaks suggested it lagged behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy in synthetic workloads such as AnTuTu and Geekbench. However, Samsung's flagship SoC is able to hold its own quite well when it comes to gaming and manages to stay on par with Qualcomm's offering. YouTuber NL Tech confirmed this by pitting the Exynos 2400-powered Galaxy S24+ against the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy.

The YouTuber tested both phones with Samsung's Game Booster enabled. He also switched on the experimental "Alternate game performance management" toggle that sacrifices thermals to squeeze out a few extra frames. This will push the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy to their limits. The games tested include Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, PUBG New State, COD Mobile, War Thunder, Mobile Legends and Fortnite.

Both the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy were able to run Genshin Impact at a steady-ish 60 FPS with a few drops in between. It is a commendable feat, as the title is one of the more demanding ones out there. Unfortunately, both chips are thermal throttled, which isn't out of the ordinary. Nevertheless, this is the proverbial trial by fire, and the Exynos 2400 seems to have passed with flying colours.

Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra runs cooler than the Galaxy S24+, thanks in part to its colossal chassis and better cooling system. In PUBG Mobile, the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy are able to achieve a steady 90 FPS. They can do a lot better, and the figure seems to be an engine limitation that can be overcome via a software update. The situation repeats itself in PUBG New State. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is able to run Call of Duty: Mobile at a steady 120 FPS with Snapdragon Super Resolution switched on. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24+ is stuck at 60 FPS.

Mobile Legends isn't a very demanding title, and it was able to run at a steady 60 FPS on both phones. However, there were noticeable frame dips in Fortnite, with both the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy dropping to the low 70 FPS range in combat. Otherwise, it ran at a steady-ish 90 FPS. Finally, the Galaxy S24+ was able to outperform the Galaxy S24 Ultra in War Thunder, which also had raytracing enabled. Initially, both phones could run the game at around 100 FPS, but the Qualcomm chip quickly began to thermal throttle, dropping to about 40 FPS in an urban setting.

In essence, Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ owners worldwide can rest easy knowing that they didn't get stuck with an inferior chip. If anything, the Exynos 2400 has the capacity to trash the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Dimensity 9300 and maybe even the Apple A17 Pro in gaming performance thanks to FSR support. It is also worth noting the above tests were performed on pre-production hardware, and the situation will only get better once Samsung (and AMD) begin to roll out optimizations.
