The OPPO Find X7 Ultra now commands a price of up to 6,999 yuan (~$978) with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage in China. Now, the OEM has revealed that if a buyer happens to break that top-end SKU's motherboard out of warranty, it will ask just over 50% of that original retail price (or 3,690 yuan (~$516)) to replace it.
Accordingly, it might be slightly less of a shock to then learn that the X7 Ultra's new Pro XDR QHD OLED display would cost up to 1,690 yuan (~$236) to fix under the same circumstances.
Then again, one might not expect to pay up to 1,050 yuan (~$147) to replace a smartphone's main camera - not even one with the potentially class-leading 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor and added wide-angle functions of the X7 Ultra.
Furthermore, the new flagship also has dual periscope zoom rear cameras to go with it, one of which could cost 490 yuan (~$68) to replace and the other 320 yuan (~$45).
The Ultra's vanilla Find X7 sibling also has 1 periscope lens of its own, also valued at 320 yuan as a replacement part; then again, it almost looks affordable to maintain long-term with a 1,090 yuan (~$152) display, up to 2,990 yuan (~$418) motherboard and even 290 yuan (~$41) rear panel compared to 550 yuan (~$77) in the Ultra.
All in all, the Find X7 Ultra might have one of the most expensive replacement rear cameras on the Android market yet. Finally, OPPO even has a service surcharge that is a little more expensive than normal for the Find X7 series, at an additional 50 yuan (~$7) per official ex-warranty repair.
