Recent developments might have the earliest of nervous OnePlus 12 adopters tempted to take their brand new smartphone apart to check it for bugs. The incident (which, in fairness, seems to be a once-off thus far) has achieved even more awkward timing with the release of the 4,299 yuan ($599) and up device's new official spare parts price-list page.
OnePlus touts its new X1 display as the new industry best; however, it is not the device's most expensive replacement part. That honor goes to the 12's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-equipped motherboard at up to 3,250 yuan ($454) for its top-end 24GB/1TB version, whereas a new 120Hz QHD+ screen costs 1,650 yuan ($230).
The 12's headlining Sony LYTIA LYT-808 camera is also touted as a high-end Hasselblad-enhanced shooter, and costs 590 yuan ($82) to replace. A new battery costs 199 yuan ($28), whereas a replacement rear panel would be 390 yuan ($54).
Accordingly, a repair that happens not to be covered by the OnePlus 12's warranty, while not the most expensive out there, could still get pricey, depending on what breaks or, perhaps, what doesn't go back where it's supposed to. OPPO China also tacks 50 yuan ($7) service charges onto each restoration procedure.
