Unfortunate OnePlus 12 buyer finds dead bug under phone chassis
At launch, the OnePlus 12 checked all the boxes for a quintessential flagship killer with its top-shelf hardware, relatively affordable price tag and many new freatures not found on older OnePlus devices (US$795 on Amazon). However, OnePlus may have cut some corners, literally and figuratively, to drive the phone's price down. One unfortunate buyer in China ended up with a nasty bug in their phone- not of the software kind.
The poster took to Weibo (via 9to5Google) to show off their OnePlus 12 with a dead bug sandwiched between the chassis. The photo also shows off other quality issues, such as panel gaps and hair. Even some of the glue holding the glass to the frame seems to be undone. Overall, it is not a good look for OnePlus as it shatters the device's illusion as a premium smartphone.
Oppo support has since replied to the original poster and apologized for the mishap shortly after the user accused Oppo China's president, Li Jie Louis, of blocking them. Meanwhile, other users have taken this as an opportunity to highlight their own issues with OnePlus, the most prominent one being the dreaded green line. It would be ideal if OnePlus addresses these issues before its global launch on January 23.
