A couple of tipsters have offered conflicting reports in regard to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and its camera setup, specifically the front-facing camera. Samsung has not brought under-display camera technology to its flagship Galaxy S phones yet, although devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 come with an underwhelming 4 MP under-display camera.

Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra have been circulating for a while now, despite the Galaxy S25 series having only just launched. One of those rumors has been about the front-facing camera technology that Samsung will choose for the S26 Ultra. Not long ago, we reported about a tipster claiming that the South Korean firm was forging ahead with an under-display camera (UDC) for the top-end device, but now we have two known leakers offering up conflicting details.

Once again, @kro_roe has been insistent that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have the selfie camera hidden under the screen. The tipster recently posted this comment:

As of today, the S26 Ultra's UDC is undergoing testing. Work is in progress to improve image quality, with new technology expected to be implemented.

That statement sounds promising, as the UDC cameras used in some of the Galaxy Z Fold phones are far from stellar in terms of performance and quality. If the Galaxy S26 Ultra was fitted with an under-display camera, it would have to perform at the same or better levels than current champions of the technology, such as the Nubia Z60 Ultra.

However, a fellow X-based leaker, @PandaFlashPro, has offered a completely contrasting report:

It is highly impossible that Samsung will introduce an under-display camera for the "Ultra" model within the next 2-3 years. Due to poor results, the UDC never performs better than normal camera.

The tipster claims Samsung would not want to disappoint future Galaxy S26 Ultra owners by offering sub-standard selfie camera performance in exchange for what may be considered as only a gimmick. Despite the previous rumor coming across as both surprisingly innovative for Samsung and exciting, chances are this latter rumor is more accurate. Samsung will not want to risk similar debacles it experienced with the Galaxy Z Fold crease issues or the infamous Galaxy Note 7 recalls.
