Samsung's new flagship phones missed out on the silicon-carbon battery upgrade that most of its Chinese competitors sport. However, as per past leaks and a new report, the Galaxy S26 series may feature it.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series has just hit the shelves, but leaks about the 2026 lineup have been rolling out well before the launch of the current-gen flagships. A couple of them claimed that Samsung's next flagship phones will sport larger batteries than their predecessors. It would be through a silicon-carbon (SiC) battery upgrade.

This battery tech is already present in a good number of Chinese flagships, which has made many of these new phones have higher battery capacities without being thicker than their predecessors. The Galaxy S26 series is now once again tipped to sport this SiC tech. This new report comes from FNNews, which states that the upcoming lineup will sport "monster battery" capacities.

As for the numbers, the new report suggests that the batteries of the Galaxy S26 series phones could have anywhere from 6,000 mAh to 7,000 mAh capacities. Given that it will be based on the SiC battery tech, these capacity upgrades won't increase the thickness of the 2026 flagships.

Of course, even if Samsung does incorporate SiC batteries inside the Galaxy S26 series, the phones may still lag behind the Chinese flagships in terms of capacity. Recent rumors are suggesting that Xiaomi is testing batteries with up to 7,500 mAh capacity, which is also said to bring 100 W fast charging support (145 W Ugreen Nexode power bank curr. $69.99 on Amazon).

Realme is also rumored to introduce a new flagship phone later in 2025 with a battery capacity of up to 8,000 mAh. The company's recently released phone, the GT 7 Pro, features a 6,500 mAh battery, which one of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy flagships may match.
