Oppo has now set an imminent launch date for its Find N5 in China, giving rise to speculation that it will debut internationally as the OnePlus Open 2 shortly thereafter.
The OEM has strongly hinted that the new device will ship with an enlarged cover display. Its main folding screen will be bigger too, according to the well-regarded leaker Digital Chat Station: no less than 8.12 inches in diagonal length, compared to 7.82 inches in the original Open/Oppo Find N3.
It follows that the device might be longer and/or wider when closed compared to its relatively compact ~6.04 x 2.89-inch (153.4 x 73.3 millimeter (mm)) predecessor - as its renders to date suggest.
It does need room for 50W wireless charging in addition to upgraded 80W wired charging tech in this generation, according to the latest rumors.
Digital Chat Station also now asserts that the "Open 2's" triple 50MP rear lenses (an advanced periscope zoom included) will be part of a new Hasselblad HyperTone Camera System, a name that might hint at an attempt at improved color accuracy in the N5/Open 2's shots.
The device is also believed to come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and improved IPX6/IPX8/IPX9 water-resistance, and to have Twilight Purple and Jade White finish options in addition to the Satin Black colorway featured in its latest hands-on photo leak.
It seems to be made of glass, as opposed to the textured vegan leather of the OnePlus Open in Voyager Black as seen on Amazon.
