OnePlus Open 2 teaser confirms upgraded hinge for 'worry-free' folding for 'ten years'

Oppo is getting ready to launch the Find N5, which is set to be the world's thinnest foldable phone. This folding smartphone is expected to be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 in certain markets. So far, the company has confirmed a couple of details of this upcoming device, and now, it has teased its durability.

Per the recent round of teasers, the Find N5 will sport what Oppo calls a "titanium alloy sky hinge." It's said to be industry-leading in terms of durability, weight, and reliability, offering worry-free folding. To be specific, the company says that the soon-to-be OnePlus Open 2 can be folded more than a hundred times a day, and even with that folding and unfolding frequency, the hinge won't give in for "ten years."

This specific teaser has also confirmed that the OnePlus Open 2 will feature an "imperceptible crease" certification. That is, the company is claiming that the crease of the foldable phone won't be visible easily, something that's quite important for these folding devices.

Another aspect that the new teasers have confirmed is the "full-level waterproof" certification of the Oppo Find N5. More specifically, the company claims that the soon-to-be OnePlus Open 2 will be the first foldable phone with IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 waterproof ratings.

It's said to be capable of handling water immersion, hot water, and water spray with ease. These durability aspects give the OnePlus Open 2 strong ground against competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 (256 GB curr. $1,499.99 on Amazon) and Honor Magic V3. There's still no official word about the price yet, but the global debut is set for February 20, which isn't far from now.
