Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 FE: New report affirms rumors of a cheaper foldable to partner the Galaxy Z Fold6
Samsung's upcoming foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, will launch at Unpacked in the third quarter of the year. By all indications, Samsung has a third foldable being readied to launch alongside those two but information on what that foldable will be has been conflicting.
Said foldable, internally coded as "Q6A" was initially claimed to be a more affordable device positioned below the Galaxy Z Fold6, but reports from reliable sources then tipped it to be a more premium offering—a Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra, of sorts. In a rather interesting twist, however, a new report from Korea has now pivoted back to the start.
Supposedly, "Q6A" will be an affordable foldable, much like a hypothetical Galaxy Z Fold6 FE. This is said to be a "strategy to expand demand by reducing the price burden on foldable smartphones". Ergo, making foldable devices more accessible. That makes sense from a business perspective, as the US$999 Galaxy Z Flip has traditionally outsold the much more expensive Galaxy Z Fold. A cheaper Fold is all but guaranteed to improve sales.
Differences between the cheaper "Galaxy Z Fold6 FE" and the standard Galaxy Z Fold6 aren't listed, but the source mentions pen-input support as a likely separator between the two. It wouldn't be surprising to see significant differences in camera and display hardware, however.
