Launch date for possible new Motorola flagship announced after rumoured specifications leak
It appears that Motorola has set a date for the global unveiling of its next flagship smartphone. For context, the company has already revealed its intentions to offer up the Moto X50 Ultra. Past releases suggest that the Moto X50 Ultra will be exclusive to China though, for which Motorola will schedule a dedicated launch event. Unfortunately, Motorola has not commented on the Moto X50 Ultra since the device's initial announcement.
Nonetheless, there is already ample evidence that the company has developed global alternatives as the Edge Plus 2024 in North America and the Edge 50 Pro elsewhere outside China. Most recently, Android Headlines shared numerous promotional images containing the latter in which the date April 3 within a calendar widget, full details of which we have covered separately. With that being said, the calendar widget showed April 3 falling on a Tuesday, which has not occurred since 2018 and will not occur again until 2029.
Thus, there was no guarantee that this date would reflect the Edge 50 Pro's actual release date. However, Motorola has now urged GSMArena to save April 3 to 'witness the fusion of art and intelligence', with emphasis added on art and intelligence in an apparent nod to AI. Currently, the Edge 50 Pro is expected to arrive sporting a faster chipset than the Edge 40 Pro (curr. $699.99 on Amazon), as well as improved wireless charging and new camera hardware.
