Motorola has begun teasing its next flagship smartphone, which will not launch as the Moto X50 in China. Instead, the company's first teaser video has revealed the company's plans to release the Moto X50 Ultra, which it appends with 'AI Mobile Phone' on Weibo. However, we suspect that Motorola will eventually sell the device as the Moto X50 Ultra rather than the Moto X50 Ultra AI Mobile Phone.
At any rate, the Moto X50 Ultra should be viewed as a Moto X40 successor for now, despite Motorola bringing the 'Ultra' moniker to its Moto X series. Currently, Motorola has not revealed any specifications about the Moto X50 Ultra yet. Nonetheless, it has hinted that the device will be available with a vegan leather back, mirroring many of its contemporaries like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
Additionally, recent rumours point towards the device relying upon Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, an obvious upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Moto X40. Moreover, the Moto X50 Ultra is expected to arrive with a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 125 W wired and 50 W wireless charging, with the latter being the only improvement over the Moto X40 in this regard. Furthermore, it seems that the Moto X50 Ultra will be available outside China in most countries as the Edge 50 Pro rather than the Edge 50 Ultra. Typically, Motorola simplifies its naming schemes in North America, though, with 'Edge+ 2024' being a likely candidate.
