Nothing Phone (2a) prototypes reveal what Samsung Galaxy A55 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus rival could have looked like
Yesterday, Nothing revealed more design details about the Phone (2a), which will finally launch in under a week's time. Additionally, the company provided a look at various prototypes for its upcoming smartphone, which followed a glimpse at its retail packaging. On the one hand, the images are of interest because they chart how the device's design changed over before its retail form.
On the other hand, they also somewhat exonerate @OnLeaks, who claimed at the start of the month to have obtained an official press render before clarifying that it was a fake. In short, the render shared by @OnLeaks appears to have been a late prototype, evidenced by a matching hands-on image that surfaced shortly beforehand. However, it seems that Nothing prototyped at least another four Phone (2a) designs before settling on the one it will release next month.
According to Wallpaper, the significant design change occurred because 'the [Nothing] team diverted their energies elsewhere before returning to the project'. Incidentally, Nothing has confirmed that Phone (2a) has a plastic back panel, unlike its glass-backed siblings. Supposedly 'high-density polycarbonate', the back panel is also said to feature a 'triple anti fingerprint coating', although the exact extent of its anti-oleophobic properties remains to be seen. Nothing will unveil the Phone (2a) on March 5 with a rumoured €349 starting price, €100 less than the Samsung Galaxy A55 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus.
