Samsung Galaxy A55 5G to launch early next month with uncompetitive pricing compared to Nothing Phone (2a) and Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G
WinFuture and Roland Quandt have shared new information about the Galaxy A55 5G, one of several upcoming mid-range smartphones produced by Samsung. According to the pair, the Galaxy A55 5G will reach Europe on March 11, with a simultaneous release planned for the cheaper Galaxy A35 5G. Incidentally, official accessories for both smartphones have already surfaced online, details of which we have provided separately.
In summary, all sources point towards the Galaxy A55 5G launching with an Exynos 1480 chipset, a 120 Hz AMOLED display, a 50 MP primary camera and a 5,000 mAh battery. Reportedly, the Galaxy A55 5G will start at €449 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Alternatively, WinFuture and Quandt claim that there will be a €449 SKU with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. In other words, the Galaxy A55 will match the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G (curr. $487.99 on Amazon), which Xiaomi already sells for €449 with a higher memory configuration also priced at €499.
However, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G starts with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, effectively making it €50 cheaper than the equivalent Galaxy A55 5G. Similarly, the Galaxy A55 5G could be €100 pricier than the Nothing Phone (2a), which is rumoured to launch for €349 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, or €399 with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Moreover, the Nothing Phone (2a) will arrive a few days earlier than the Galaxy A55 5G on March 5. The Galaxy A55 5G should receive five years of updates from One UI 6.1 and Android 14 onwards though, unlike some of its mid-range contemporaries.
