MWC 2024 | ZTE reveals new Nubia gaming smartphone with $199 launch price
ZTE has presented several devices at MWC 2024, including the Nubia Flip 5G and the Nubia Pad 3D II. Additionally, the company has showcased the Neo 2 5G, a smartphone that has been designed with the brief of being 'a better gaming phone for all'. For context, ZTE released the original Nubia Neo towards the end of spring 2023 across Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, full details of which we have covered separately.
As for the Nubia Neo 2 5G, ZTE mentions a 6,000 mAh battery in its press release, as well as support for 33 W wired charging. Moreover, the handset features stereo speakers and DTS:X Ultra audio integration, plus a 'multi-layer heat dissipation system'. Furthermore, the Neo 2 5G has a 6.72-inch display that outputs at 2,400 x 1,080 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
Also, the company claims that the smartphone will be available with up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage with '20 GB dynamic RAM'. Presumably, this means 8 GB or 12 GB of physical RAM and a 12 GB or 8 GB page file, which Android OEMs often erroneously refer to as a 'RAM booster' or equivalent wording. For some reason, ZTE has only confirmed that the Nubia Neo 2 5G has an octa-core processor that can boost to 2.7 GHz when needed rather than listing the part that underpins the device.
The Nubia Neo 2 5G will be eventually available in three finishes, although it is unclear at this stage. Nonetheless, ZTE reports that it intends to offer the Nubia Neo 2 5G for as little as $199, $400 less than the Nubia Flip 5G. Please see ZTE's product listing for more hardware details.
