MWC 2024 | Nubia Flip 5G: Hands-on with ZTE Libero Flip global model before international release
The ZTE Libero Flip has now arrived globally, shortly before the device's debut release in Japan. As expected, ZTE has re-branded the Libero Flip for other markets, with the foldable being shown at MWC 2024 as the Nubia Flip 5G instead. For context, ZTE typically reserves its Nubia brand for high-end or gaming smartphones, such as the Z60 Ultra.
Seemingly, the Nubia Flip 5G and ZTE Libero Flip share identical specifications, including a large foldable AMOLED display that measures 6.9-inches across and outputs at 2,790 x 1,888 pixels. Additionally, the Nubia Flip 5G has a 1.43-inch cover display with a 466 x 466-pixel resolution, around which sits 50 MP primary and 2 MP auxiliary cameras. Moreover, the handset features a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset that Qualcomm unveiled nearly two years ago, plus a 4,310 mAh battery that supports 33 W wired charging.

As the photos below show, ZTE has exhibited the Nubia Flip 5G in two colours, both with brushed frames and textured back panels. The devices' build quality appears decent at first glance, too. On the one hand, ZTE's hinge mechanism allows the Nubia Flip 5G to fold flat, unlike all Galaxy Z Flip devices except the most recent Galaxy Z Flip5.
On the other hand, we could not feel a crease when using either device nor is one noticeable in the pictures below. While ZTE has not confirmed a global launch date yet, it intends to offer the Nubia Flip 5G in the US for $599, which would see it exceed the ZTE Libero Flip (JPY 63,000/~$419) and the similarly-equipped Motorola Razr 2023 (curr. $499.99 on Amazon).
