Friends of Hue switches, compatible with Philips Hue smart lights, will soon be updated according to a recent rumor. These include accessories like the Lutron Aurora Smart Bulb Dimmer Switch and models from brands like Senic & Gira and Niko. Hueblog.com suggests these third-party accessories will soon gain the Natural light 24-hour scene via new software.
The Natural light feature automatically adjusts your smart lighting over the day, optimizing based on the time of day. By default, lighting is cooler in the morning to wake you up and warmer at night to help you unwind. However, you can customize this to suit your taste. The feature arrived for the Philips Hue Dimmer Switch and Hue Smart Button in September then rolled out to the Philips Hue Wall switch module in January as part of update v5.8.0.
It has also been suggested that the software update will include other features alongside Natural light, such as the option to cycle through up to ten scenes on one button and a timed lighting feature. Hueblog.com does not name its source but suggests that the update is possible thanks to the Zigbee module used in the Friends of Hue switch accessories. It remains to be seen exactly when the new software will become available for these products.
