Homematic IP reveals new lightstrip with features to rival Philips Hue

The Homematic IP Lightstrip Set contains a 2 m (~6.6 ft) long lightstrip, a controller and a power supply. The lightstrip can be extended to up to 10 m (~33.0 ft) using the extension packs, each 1m (~3.3 ft) in length. Plus, the company claims it is easy to install thanks to the adhesive backing on the strips. You can control the smart lights via the Homematic IP app, choosing a specific light color or selecting from preset moods. Also included is a dynamic daylight mode, adjusting the brightness and color temperature of the light based on the time of day in a similar fashion as the Philips Hue Natural Light scene. The Homematic IP Lightstrip products are expected to launch in Q3 of this year.

The company showcased a wide range of upcoming smart home solutions at the event, like the Homematic IP Home Control Unit with Philips Hue and Doorbird integrations, which will launch in Q4. Also on show were a new version of the Homematic IP app, due in Q3, and the Homematic IP Motion Detector with Switch Actuator Outdoor. This device can help you monitor your property, triggering a light or alarm to deter intruders, and is already on sale in the EU for €134.95.
