Philips has announced upcoming support for multiple linked bridges. On a page providing details on Philips Hue accounts, the company notes that users will be able to combine multiple Bridges in one account at some point later this year. Plus, the Bridges will be able to be sorted into Homes to help you organize your ecosystem.
A Philips Hue Bridge can support up to 50 devices, such as smart lights, security cameras and contact sensors. While customers with more than 50 gadgets can add a second bridge to the Philips Hue app, they can only control one Hue Bridge at a time and must switch between the two to control various smart home devices around the home. In other words, you cannot control all your gadgets simultaneously. Philips has yet to provide further details about the upgrade, such as whether you can control multiple devices located in the same room but connected to different bridges.
The Hue Bridge was recently updated to software version 1962154010 for enhanced performance and stability. An earlier update in January brought Matter support for the Secure contact sensor and fixed a problem that occurred when pairing with Apple Home via Homekit. It remains to be seen precisely when the Philips Hue app will be updated to support multiple linked Hue Bridges.
