Husqvarna announces new update to make DOOM playable on robot lawn mowers
Husqvarna has announced an update which allows users to play DOOM on some of its Automower robotic lawn mowers in Europe. The popular first-person shooter game, released in 1993, will be playable on Husqvarna Automower NERA models, like the recently revealed 310E and 410XE, later this year.
DOOM can be played on the Husqvarna Automower NERA using the built-in display, with the mower’s control knob used for navigation. You can press the knob to fire and the START button to run forward. The video game was initially added to Husqvarna robotic lawn mowers last year, with the company hosting a DOOM tournament at DreamHack Winter 2023. Following customer demand, the company has decided to make the game available publicly for a short period.
From April 9th, the software will be available to download via the Husqvarna Automower Connect App; Husqvarna notes that it may take up to a week before you can play the game on your robot mower. Customers must sign up for the update before August 26th, with the game playable until September 9th. It is worth noting that the software is only available in some European countries, including the UK, the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Sweden. You can sign up for the software at the brand’s website, with an app notification to tell you when the update is ready to download.
