Xiaomi teases 2024 Redmi G Pro gaming laptop, hints at good price-performance ratio

Xiaomi’s last Redmi G Pro gaming laptop launched in the fall of 2022. It came with performance-focused specs, with the high-end configuration featuring the Intel Core i9-12900H, Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, and PCIe 4 SSD. There was a Ryzen Edition too. It also came with gaming-focused specs, with the top-end variant featuring the Ryzen 7 6800H and Nvidia RTX 3060.

One thing that was common between the two 2022 Redmi G Pro gaming laptops is that they focused on offering a good price-to-performance ratio, and it seems Xiaomi is planning to do the same with the recently teased 2024 refresh. As the company said in its big product launch event today, the gaming laptop is “the strongest within CNY10,000 (around $1389).”

However, Xiaomi has only teased the laptop by showcasing a single promotional picture (attached at the end). We didn’t get any specs for the 2024 Redmi G Pro, nor did Xiaomi say the starting price point. But the promo image did hint that the upcoming gaming laptop will have a design similar to the 2022 predecessor.

It’s also worth noting that the laptop appeared on Geekbench earlier this year and late last year. The first Geekbench listing hinted at the 2024 Redmi G Pro equipping Intel Core i5-14500HX processor with Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU, while the latter suggested that the high-end config will have the Core i9-14900HX and Nvidia RTX 4070 (ASUS Dual RTX 4070 OC curr. $529.99 on Amazon).

Reports suggest that Xiaomi has fully upgraded the configuration of the laptop, which means we may see improvements for other aspects than just the CPU and GPU. For example, it may equip a cooling system that is more capable than its predecessor. The good news is that the company is expected to release the 2024 Redmi G Pro gaming laptop soon. So, we don’t need to wait long to learn all about it.
