Xiaomi has launched a new outdoor security camera in China, the CW500. The flagship camera has a 6MP camera with an f/1.6 aperture, delivering images with a 3K (2,880 x 1,660 px) resolution. The camera has a 147° field of view, 360° horizontal and 150° vertical pan and tilt. Plus, the HDR ensures you get clear and detailed video footage.
The CW500 has built-in infrared and white lights, allowing the camera to capture full-color video at night. You can view the video stream and get notifications via the Mijia App or connected smart home devices like the Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 10. AI allows the smart home device to detect people and vehicles, and you can set sound and light alarms to deter intruders. Other features include a speaker and microphone for two-way communication, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and a pair of high-gain antennae. The security camera has a white plastic casing, is rated as IP66 dust and waterproof, making it suitable for outdoor use and can operate in temperatures between -30°C and 60°C (~-22°F and 140°F).
You can buy the Xiaomi outdoor camera CW500 in China for 299 yuan (~$42/€38). It remains to be seen whether or when the product could launch in other countries like the UK, the Netherlands or Germany. The company already sells other security cameras for outdoor use in these markets, like the Xiaomi outdoor camera AW300 with a 1080p video resolution, retailing for €46.99.
