At the end of last year, Xiaomi launched the AX1500 router onto the Chinese market. This model has also been available to European customers for a few weeks now, but currently only as a direct import from Chinese stores such as AliExpress.
Official availability outside of China is now on the horizon, as Xiaomi recently listed the AX1500 on its global website. All the products officially sold outside of China can be found there. Whether this will result in a sales launch in Europe or North America is not necessarily guaranteed. Nevertheless, the chances are good, especially since Xiaomi already sells a number of routers in these markets.
Information on a possible launch date or price is still lacking. In China, Xiaomi sells the AX1500 router for the equivalent of less than $20, while it costs around $25 on AliExpress. It can be assumed that the official price will probably be higher, but still quite reasonable.
As the name suggests, the new Xiaomi AX1500 is a router with WiFi 6. It supports IEEE 802.11ax as well as the older IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards. According to Xiaomi, data rates of up to 1500 Mbit/s are possible via the two frequency bands at 2.4 and 5 GHz, which is probably also the reason for the router's model number.
In addition to the usual WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE encryption standards for secure WiFi networks, the Xiaomi AX1500 router supports mesh technology, IPTV and also provides four Gigabit LAN ports for wired networking.
