Xiaomi Smart Camera C700: Xiaomi's first 8 MP indoor security camera offers 4K HDR, local AI and HyperOS
Xiaomi has launched its first 8 MP indoor security camera, the Smart Camera C700. Among other things, it offers 4K HDR, local AI and storage as well as night vision and HyperOS at a reasonable price.
Xiaomi has just launched a new indoor security camera onto the market, the Xiaomi Smart Camera C700, which is only available in China at present. It recently went on sale there at JD.com for 349 yuan, the equivalent of less than $50.
There is currently no information on whether and when the new Xiaomi Smart Camera C700 will be released internationally. However, as the company already offers a whole range of indoor and outdoor security cameras outside China, such as the Xiaomi Smart Camera C300, it is highly likely that the Xiaomi Smart Camera C700 will get a global launch in the coming months.
According to Xiaomi, the new Xiaomi Smart Camera C700 is the first indoor security camera from the manufacturer to feature an 8 MP sensor. This promises particularly sharp, detailed and high-resolution images in 4K HDR with a resolution of 3840 x 2160. Xiaomi also installs a high-quality lens with five optical lenses and a large aperture so that the camera can capture the clearest possible images in unfavorable low-light conditions. Infrared ensures night vision in the dark.
Thanks to motors, the Xiaomi Smart Camera C700 can be rotated 360 degrees horizontally and tilted 110 degrees vertically to provide the best possible view of its surroundings. For privacy, the lens can be covered if required. According to Xiaomi, the local AI on the camera can detect baby cries and shattering glass as well as automatically track pets and people. Local storage on a microSD memory card of up to 256 GB or a NAS as well as two-way communication round off the features of the indoor surveillance camera. Networking in the smart home is possible via HyperOS Connect.
I have been fascinated by technology for around 25 years – especially technology that makes life easier rather than more complicated. Mobile devices such as laptops, smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches are particularly close to my heart as is the booming subject of smart homes. I have been working in these areas for several years now as a news and reviews editor. I have been active with various websites, including the smart home blogs homee, Nuki, and siio, as well as tech portals such as Giga and TechRadar. I have been writing news and laptop reviews for Notebookcheck since 2020.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
