Philips Hue releases new effects for more smart lights
Philips Hue has begun to roll out some of its latest lighting effects to more smart lights. Glisten and Opal arrived last year with the second-generation Philips Hue Festavia string lights. Now, a report from HueBlog suggests that several users have indicated that they can use the new lighting effects on other products, which already have options like Candle and Fireplace.
The Opal and Glisten effects have been seen on products like the White and Color Ambiance Gradient lightstrip and smart bulbs. However, they do not appear to be available for all devices and users yet. The features seem to be linked to firmware version 1.116.3, which has recently arrived for some smart lights but has not been officially announced by Signify. Glisten is similar to the existing Sparkle effect, with faster movement and greater intensity, while the Opal effect cycles through various pastel colors.
A third effect, Prism, also launched with the upgraded Festavia; this colored lighting effect transitions through shades of the rainbow. Prism was released for all Philips Hue smart lighting products with app version 5.13.0, which arrived earlier this year. It remains to be seen when this update will be officially announced by Signify and available for all eligible Philips Hue smart lights.
