Last-gen Samsung mid-range smartphones get One UI 6.1 update, but without the Galaxy AI features
Samsung Galaxy A34 and A54 are last-gen mid-range devices that are in the hands of many. The successors did get One UI 6.1, and now, the previous mid-rangers are getting the software update. But unlike the flagships that got the update (S25 Ultra curr. $1,024.95 on Amazon), these two phones aren’t getting the Galaxy AI features. That means there’s no Circle to Search, Live Translate, Call Assist, and others.
As of now, the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A54 and A34 is available for download in South Korea. Although there’s no word on when it will be rolled out globally, it should happen soon.
Now, while this One UI 6.1 doesn’t bring the AI features, it does bring a good number of changes on the Galaxy A54 and A34. That includes accurate image clipping, improved Gallery search, Quick Share, and many customization features.
One thing to note about this update is that it doesn’t come with the latest May 2024 Android security patch. Instead, the One UI 6.1 update for the last-gen Galaxy mid-range devices brings the April 2024 patch. It’s unclear whether Samsung will release a separate security patch for the smartphones.
