A few days ago, Deal N Tech discovered that a European retailer had listed an unreleased Motorola Moto G smartphone. As we have discussed separately, the retailer referred to the handset as the Moto G85, which it priced at €300. Additionally, the unknown retailer added that Motorola had equipped the handset with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, as well as an unknown 5G chipset.
Now, the same device has turned up on Geekbench, evidence of which we have embedded below. Like the Moto G84 (curr. $229.99 on Amazon) before it, the Moto G85 will be available with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. Presumably, Motorola will continue to offer both RAM configurations with 256 GB of storage though, which is not always the case even for flagship smartphones.
According to the likes of GSMArena, the chipset that Geekbench identifies as 'ARM implementer 65 architecture 8 variant 1 part 3393 revision 1' is the unreleased Snapdragon 4 Gen 3. For reference, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 in late June 2023. Thus, it should follow that the company presents a successor around the same time this year. Unfortunately, many other details about the Moto G85 remain unknown for now, other than Motorola will pre-install it with Android 14.
