As per the usual timeline, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to launch sometime this October. But it’s not the only flagship chip expected to use the 3 nm process. Samsung will also reportedly be bringing its Exynos 2500 with the same process design, and according to the latest leak, it will apparently be outclassing Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship SoC in terms of power efficiency.

Samsung and Synopsys recently published details on the successful mass production of prototype 3 nm process design. While the joint press release didn’t reveal which chipset the pair are working on, it’s believed to be the Exynos 2500, which will likely be powering Galaxy S25 devices in some regions.

Qualcomm is also expected to launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 built on TSMC’s 3 nm N3E process. Historically, Qualcomm’s chips have been more powerful, while Samsung’s Exynos tends to be more power efficient. As pointed out by a report from Business Korea, it seems that the same trend will continue.

The report says that the upcoming Exynos 2500 might outclass the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in terms of power efficiency. This could potentially mean better battery life for Galaxy S25 phones that may eventually pack Samsung’s chip instead of the one from Qualcomm.

Although, it should be noted that the report doesn’t say anything about the actual performance or provide any numbers. We also don’t know what the core configuration of the upcoming Exynos 2500 will be like. But it's worth noting that a recent leak did hint at it using ARM Cortex-X5, which is said to be a better performer than the Oryon CPU cores expected to be in Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
