Exynos is not dead: Galaxy S25 Plus spotted on Geekbench with Exynos 2500
While the Exynos 2500 is no stranger to Geekbench, we only got a glimpse at its (somewhat lackluster) GPU performance. Now, we get to see its 10-core CPU in action, and it's a bit lacking. As confirmed earlier, it comes with a 10-core CPU (1+2+5+2), similar to its last-gen counterpart. It shows up alongside an European Galaxy S25+ variant (SM-S936B) with 12 GB RAM running what appears to be One UI 7.0.
It scores 2,359 and 8,141 points in Geekbench's single and multi-core tests. That is 14% faster than the Exynos 2400 (2,506/6,495) in single-core and 25% faster in multi-core. We also got a glimpse at the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered Galaxy S25 Ultra US variant (SM-S938U), which scored 3,148 and 10,236 points in the same benchmark.
The Exynos 2500's prime CPU core (likely Cortex-X925) is clocked at 3.30 GHz. The next two cores run at 2.75 GHz, followed by five others at 2.36 GHz, and lastly, two E-cores at 1.80 GHz. A cursory glance at its frequency charts shows no signs of throttling. While the chip isn't running at its full potential due to it being a pre-production sample, these numbers put the Exynos 2500 significantly behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Dimensity 9400 in terms of performance and raw clocks.
Noted X leaker Jukanlosreve says this is only a sample and the retail Galaxy S25+ units sold in Europe will come with a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (or Dimensity 9400, depending on who you ask). Looking at the above performance numbers, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Of course, Samsung has some time to fine-tune the Exynos 2500 before shipping it out, but it is, once again, lightyears behind Qualcomm. We might get to see it in action later in 2025 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy S25 FE.
