Exynos 2500: Galaxy Z Flip 7 SoC has reportedly entered mass production despite abysmal yields
Despite there being at least one Galaxy S25 Plus sample out there with an Exynos 2500, the trio has been overwhelmingly rumoured to launch with a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy across the board. Samsung hasn't abandoned its 'dream chip', though. South Korean news outlet Sedaily reports the chip has entered mass production and it will power the Galaxy Z Flip 7 next year.
Additionally, there's a chance it could power the Galaxy S25 Slim in mid-2025. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will stick with a Snapdragon 8 Elite For Galaxy. Apparently, Samsung is optimistic about Galaxy Z Flip 7 sales and plans to make 3.9 million units initially. This figure also includes the cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE which will be powered by the Exynos 2400.
A Samsung spokesperson has denied claims of mass production, but that is standard procedure for an unreleased product. In terms of raw performance, the Exynos 2500 lags behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Dimensity 9400, at least on the CPU front. While its new Xclipse 950 could bring forth some GPU improvements, they won't matter much on a Galaxy Z Flip 7 because gaming isn't its primary use case.
Nevertheless, the Exynos 2500 has to exist for Samsung Foundry to stay afloat. Amid low yields, long working hours and no orders from third-party clients, Samsung Foundry is in shambles. It'll be a win for Samsung if the Exynos 2500 breaks even with the competition because it sets the stage for its SF2-based successor codenamed Thetis.
