Exynos 2500: Geekbench listing highlights intriguing CPU configuration and lackluster GPU performance
Even though there has been growing evidence of the Exynos 2500's delay, Samsung still hasn't decided its fate and plans to do so in the coming days. We got our first glimpse of the SoC on PowerBoard, where its GPU showcased respectable generation-over-generation performance gain. On the other hand, its Geekbench showing is a lot less impressive.
The Exynos 2500 (s5e9955) scores 15,960 points on Geekbench's OpenCL test. That figure is less than impressive because the last-gen Exynos 2400's Xclipse 940 scored 16,946 points in the same test. Then again ,we're probably looking at a pre-production sample and the score will definitely get better with time. The Xclipse 950 in question has a max clock of 1.3 GHz and 8 WGPs (16 CUs).
We also get our first glimpse at the Exynos 2500's CPU. It ditches its predecessor's 1+2+3+4 design, opting for an unconventional 2+5+3 layout. Its two E-cores are clocked 1.75 GHz, five middle cores at 2.25 GHz and three P-cores at 2.59 GHz. Of course, these clocks are not final and could change before launch. In terms of raw clock speed, the Exynos 2500 is miles behind the Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (aka Snapdragon 8 Elite), and it'll be interesting to see how it fares.
