Exynos 2500: Samsung reportedly prepping two variants of next-gen SoC
With the Exynos 2400 finally catching up with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, Samsung plans to use it in other devices such as the Galaxy Z Flip6 (or its affordable variant) and a part of the Galaxy Tab S10 series. Its successor, the Exynos 2500, will follow suit and even power some Galaxy Book laptops, according to X leaker OreXDA.
Previous leaks said the Exynos 2500 ("B" variant) would follow the Exynos 2400's footsteps and launch with a 10-core CPU. Its exact core configuration is unknown, but an Arm Cortex-X5 will almost certainly act as the "prime" core. This 10-core Exynos 2500 is supposedly earmarked for tablets and laptops, such as an upcoming Galaxy Book model.
The second Exynos 2500 ("A" variant for smartphones such as the Galaxy S25) will cut the number of CPU cores to 8. An overall reduction in clocks is likely to keep thermals in check. An earlier Geekbench listing of the Pixel 8a's Tensor G4 (tentative) SoC could give us a rough idea about how the smartphone-only Exynos 2500 variant could look like.
That said, Samsung could go the opposite route and go all-in on performance cores (Cortex X5 + Cortex-X4 + Cortex-A720) to keep up with the Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
