Samsung Galaxy S25 rumoured to launch with a 6.36-inch screen
Even though the Galaxy S25 series is 10-ish months from launch, tidbits of information have begun to appear online. Both the base Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ are slated to launch with Sony camera sensors, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra might debut a 1-inch lens. A Naver post (via @Tech_Reve on X) now hints at yet another significant upgrade for the base Galaxy S25.
The smartphone will supposedly launch with a 6.36-inch screen, effectively making the Galaxy S24 ($799 on Amazon) the last of its kind (after the Galaxy S20) with a 6.2-inch panel. If accurate, this signals the end of compact smartphones. Then again, they were a dying breed, with even Asus abandoning the form factor with the ZenFone 11 Ultra. Even the iPhone SE 4 is rumoured to adopt a more modern chassis modelled on the iPhone 13.
One can only hope the Galaxy S25's increased screen (and corresponding chassis) size comes with an equal increment in screen resolution and battery capacity. While the Galaxy S24 fared well in our in-depth review, its battery drain on idle was on the higher side. A larger screen will only exacerbate the situation; more so if the next-gen Exynos 2500 is as much of a power hog as the Exynos 2400.
