Alleged Sony Xperia cryptic social media post sparks speculation of a Sony Xperia 3 smartphone release
Android OEMs have been announcing Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 smartphones since last October, starting with the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. In fact, some companies like Motorola have now moved onto the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a chipset that Qualcomm announced earlier today. By contrast, Sony has been silent since early September 2023 when it delivered the Xperia 5 V.
Nonetheless, there have been plenty of rumours about forthcoming Sony smartphones, including the Xperia 1 VI, Xperia 5 VI, Xperia 10 VI and even an Xperia Pro-II. Additionally, a screenshot taken of an allegedly now-deleted Sony Xperia Weibo post has sparked rumours that a new series Xperia smartphone series could also be in development. Please note that we cannot find any evidence of such a post having ever existed. Thus, there is no guarantee that Zackbucks shared a legitimate image.
With that being said, we cannot find any obvious signs of the image having been faked in one way or another. Also, the image does not refer to the Xperia 3 directly. Instead, it hints that Sony Xperia will 'explore 3 secrets' this month, the exact details of which remain unknown at this stage. While the post leaves plenty up to interpretation, it has led the likes of Sumaho Digest to theorise that Sony may be planning to expand its Xperia line-up with a model that sits between the Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 series.
