MagyarMore Sony Xperia 1 VI rumors emerge: Shorter, wider, and thicker with a 19.5:9 display
Not long ago, we reported about a leak coming from the well-known Xperia commenter Zackbuks that stated the next Sony Xperia 1 phone (presumed to be the Xperia 1 VI unless Sony changes the naming system) would turn up with a 2K+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. This perturbed fans, as it sounded like Sony was planning on making the Mark 6 model of the Xperia 1 look like many of its competitors in the current market rather than sporting its familiar design language.
The same leaker has now come back with some further information about what they call the “Xperia 1 XX”, with “XX” presumably being a placeholder for whatever number or prefix Sony decides to use for the 2024 Xperia 1 (rather than just jumping to Mark 20 à la Samsung with its leap from Galaxy S10 to Galaxy S20). This time around, both the Xperia 1 VI phone measurements and display measurements are shared:
It’s worth comparing these figures with those for the Sony Xperia 1 V, so it is possible to get an idea of how the Sony Xperia 1 VI might look. The dimensions for the predecessor are 165 x 71 x 8.3 mm, so if the Xperia 1 VI dimensions of 162 x 74.4 x 8.45 mm are true, then the 2024 model will be 3 mm shorter, 3.4 mm wider, and 0.15 mm thicker than the 2023 model. As for the Mark 6 display, this will purportedly measure 149.6 x 69.4 mm, resulting in a screen diagonal of 164.91 mm or 6.49 inches (Xperia 1 V: 6.5 inches - pick one up on Amazon).
