Sony Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 5 VI: The first protective cases have surfaced
There have been quite a lot of Sony Xperia rumors in recent days, but today's leak is a little more solid. For the first time, protective covers for the successors to the Xperia 1 V and Xperia 5 V camera flagships have been found on an Chinese online marketplace Taobao, discovered by an Xperia 1 V user with a Weibo profile.
Sony Xperia 1 VI
The first two images show a case for what is presumably the Xperia 1 VI camera flagship, whose design does not appear to have changed much at first glance. However, the format seems wider than its predecessor in 21:9 format, which is in line with the rumor that Sony is planning to switch to the shorter 19.5:9 format this year and do without the 4K display. However, without a direct comparison with a case for the Xperia 1 V, it is difficult to make any definitive statements here. In terms of camera design and buttons on the side, there do not appear to be any changes.
Sony Xperia 5 VI
There is also a case in circulation for the Xperia 5 VI, and early render images also exist. Anyone who read about the supposed end of the Xperia 5 series last weekend may now be surprised. In addition to the possibility that this report is fake news, it is also conceivable that Sony recently cancelled development of the Xperia 5 VI after third-party suppliers had already produced the first protective cases.
Here, too, the design of the dual-cam flagship looks familiar, but the camera shutter button of its predecessor may be lacking. Although two holes can be seen on the underside of one side of the case, the shutter button on the Xperia 5 V is located a little further up. Of course, it cannot be ruled out that these images are fake.
