Samsung releases new camera updates for Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra ahead of schedule
Samsung has begun delivering a new update for the Galaxy S24 series, including the premier Galaxy S24 Ultra (curr. $1,149.99 on Amazon). So far, it appears that the new update is rolling out across Europe and India, with more regions likely following in the next few days. Surprisingly, the new software appears to be the Galaxy S24 series’ vaunted camera-focused update, details of which surfaced last week.
As the screenshot below shows, Samsung is distributing the update as S92xBXXU1AXCA. For reference, the lowercase ‘x’ will be swapped out for the final digit in a smartphone’s model number, such as SM-S928 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Additionally, the update ships with the April 2024 set of Android security patches, thereby beating Google by a few days.
The near 1 GB download size of S92xBXXU1AXCA underlines that the build contains more than just a new security patch, though. As always, Samsung does not include many details in its changelog. However, it has provided more information on its Korean language Community forums.
In summary, S92xBXXU1AXCA should improve exposure and white balance levels within the default Samsung camera app. Moreover, the update is slated to help deliver better camera shots in low light conditions, as well as clearer text on objects captured at long focal lengths. Furthermore, Samsung has added a 480 x 480-pixel mode to its Slow-Mo Galaxy AI , plus refined colour fidelity when using the ExpertRAW camera app. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether the former will reach all devices that are eligible for OneUI 6.1, release details of which we have covered separately.
