According to new reports, there is already evidence that Samsung has finalised model numbers for three new Galaxy Watch smartwatch models. Reputedly, the trio will arrive as the Galaxy Watch7, Galaxy Watch7 Pro or Galaxy Watch7 Classic and the Galaxy Watch7 Ultra. All should launch with optional eSIM connectivity, too, with storage and chipset upgrades from last year's Galaxy Watch6 models.

SamMobile has elaborated on its earlier rumours of the smartwatches that Samsung plans to release this year under the Galaxy Watch7 series. To recap, the website claimed that there would be three models arriving to replace the Galaxy Watch6 series, including the Galaxy Watch6 Classic (curr. $339 on Amazon). As we discussed at the time, Samsung's website supports this notion. Specifically, the company splits Galaxy Watch wearables in 'Galaxy Watch', 'Galaxy Watch Classic' and 'Galaxy Watch Pro'.

According to SamMobile, Samsung is planning somewhat of a re-brand for the Galaxy Watch7 series. Reportedly, this year could mark the introduction of an 'Ultra' model alongside regular and Classic/Pro variants. Thus, it appears that Samsung is bringing its Galaxy S smartphone product segmentation to its flagship smartwatches. Supposedly, the Galaxy Watch7 series will arrive with the following model numbers:

  • Galaxy Watch7: SM-L300 & SM-L305
  • Galaxy Watch7 Classic/Pro: SM-L310 & SM-L315
  • Galaxy Watch7 Ultra: SM-L700 & SM-L705

Please note model numbers that end in '5' denote eSIM variants with LTE support. Not only is Samsung rumoured to be expanding its flagship smartwatch series this year, but it is also expected to equip all models with twice as much storage as Galaxy Watch6 models. Although this would see the Galaxy Watch7 series match the Pixel Watch 2 with 32 GB of storage, it would still see the Galaxy Watch7 Ultra providing half as much storage as the Apple Watch Series 9. Purportedly, this year's Galaxy Watch releases will feature a new chipset codenamed Exynos S5E5535 that is anticipated to bring 30% performance and 50% power reduction improvements compared to the outgoing Exynos W930
