Suunto brings new features and bug fixes to several smartwatches in update
Suunto has released software update 2.33.12 for some of its smartwatches. The Q1 2024 release brings features for three wearables: the Suunto Vertical, Suunto Race and Suunto 9 Peak Pro. Version 2.33.12 includes new features, such as three additional watch faces and reminders to resume or end your activity from a pause if an abnormal speed is detected.
For the Vertical and Race smartwatches, a “Map ruler” tool lets you measure the distance to your chosen location in a straight line, and a high-contrast map is included for use with an always-on display. The release also brings improvements to the three watches, such as the first phase of emoji support, changes to how laps are displayed in the activity summary and enhanced sleep tracking. Plus, the company has fixed bugs in the training widget and for activity heart rate tracking. Only for the Race wearable are improvements to the raise-to-wake feature and a bug fix for the Running Estimate and Lactate metrics. Suunto has also added new apps, including Stryd, Pace Zone Duration, Ultra Walking and Race Pacer.
Update version 2.33.12 is being rolled out to the Suunto Vertical, Race and 9 Peak Pro smartwatches OTA in an automatic push to your watch. The software will be installed overnight if your watch has over 50% battery. If you want to install the update manually, you can do so by going to Settings > General and selecting Software Update. In a message on the forum, a member of the Suunto team suggested that the company was aiming for quarterly releases in 2024, though this relies on work running to schedule.
