Garmin has released beta software version 10.08 for the Venu 3 and Venu 3s smartwatches. This is the first update in the 10.xx beta testing cycling and brings two new features to the wearables. However, as with other recent releases, the ECG feature is disabled.
The first new tool comes in handy if you lose your phone during a workout. You can now use GPS to navigate to the location where the device disconnected from your smartwatch. The second feature is heart rate source dynamic switching, alternating between the watch’s OHR sensor or a heart rate monitor worn on your chest. Garmin suggests that this should improve the accuracy of the heart rate data collected by ensuring the “best” source is chosen.
If you own a Garmin Venu 3 series smartwatch, you can download the update by going to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update. As always, Garmin asks that you log any bugs you find in the appropriate section of the forum. If you want to join the Public Beta program and participate in early feature testing, you can sign up at Garmin Connect. The company also recently announced the rollout of a new major public update, bringing five new features to all Venu 3 wearables.
