Garmin has released Beta Version 15.08 for the Instinct 2, Instinct 2s, Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover smartwatches. The latest update is relatively small and follows Beta Version 15.06, which arrived a couple of weeks ago with a wide range of bug fixes for the wearables.
The change log for beta update 15.08 is relatively short, stating that the software addresses a battery drain issue. Many users reported in the forum's bug reports section faster-than-expected battery drain after installing version 15.06. Unfortunately, Garmin has not confirmed what was causing the problem or how this has been fixed. Plus, it remains to be seen whether this release significantly improves battery life. The release notes also indicate that Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover smartwatches have new GPS firmware, version 8.07. However, this has been available since the broader Beta Version 15.02 update at the start of this testing cycle.
Garmin has confirmed that the rollout of Beta Version 15.08 is complete, meaning it should have been pushed to all eligible Instinct 2, Instinct 2s, Instinct 2X, and Instinct Crossover smartwatches wearables over the air. Alternatively, you can trigger the update via Garmin Express. The company recommends that customers experiencing battery drain since software v15.06 use this second method as it should be faster. If you want to join the Beta Program, you can sign up via Garmin Connect.
