A current generation Garmin smartwatch is eligible for a new update. Rolling out now, the software update features numerous changes like a new Jet Lag Adviser glance, plus various heart rate data refinements.

Roughly a month has passed since Garmin released Software Version 18.22 for the Forerunner 265. Since then, the company has published numerous updates for other smartwatches, including two for the Fenix 7 series and its peers. Now, it has decided to give the Forerunner 265 some attention once again, albeit only on its beta development branch for the time being.

This time, the company has brought forth eight changes through Beta Version 19.09, which are as follows:

  • Adds heart rate dynamic source switching to select the best heart rate data source (watch or chest HRM) to improve accuracy during running activities.
  • Adds support for the Garmin Messenger app with a glance and app.
  • Adds the Jet Lag Adviser glance.
  • During an activity, use GPS to navigate to the point where a phone lost connection.
  • Fixes inconsistent activity profile ordering between Connect and device.
  • Fixes intermittent crash in music control.
  • Fixes persistent notification vibration for incoming calls.
  • Various UI improvements.

According to Garmin's forum post, Beta Version 19.09 is at the start of a phased rollout process. Currently, it is unclear whether the company will automatically push the new beta build to Forerunner 265 smartwatches enrolled on its Beta Program. Nonetheless, it is still possible to summon the download of Beta Version 19.09 manually by heading to the Main Menu on the Forerunner 265, followed by Settings, System, Software Update and then tapping 'Check for Updates'. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details.
