Garmin has pushed a new update to a few of its modern smartwatches. Strangely, the firmware contains a lower build number than the one that arrived last month. Nonetheless, Garmin claims to have included various Connect IQ bug fixes and improvements for eligible models.

The Venu 3 series has received a new software update, a few weeks after Garmin began distributing Beta 10.08. In summary, Beta 10.08 moved the Venu 3 and Venu 3S (curr. $449.99 on Amazon) on from Beta 9.26, which debuted almost a month ago. By contrast, the last stable update for either smartwatch arrived at the start of March as Software Version 9.24.

Inexplicably, Garmin has replaced Beta 10.08 with Beta 9.27, which the company has not acknowledged in its forum post. Instead, it has advised that Beta 9.27 can be downloaded manually by heading to the Main menu, Settings, System and then Software Update. Additionally, Garmin stresses that Beta 9.27 disables electrocardiogram (ECG) functionality on the Venu 3 series:

If you would prefer to keep the ECG App feature accessible on your watch, we recommend not participating in the Public Beta program. The ECG App feature will be made available again on versions of beta software that we anticipate becoming Live updates. In other words, you will see the ECG feature become enabled again in Beta software toward the end of our quarterly beta cycles. The ECG App feature will remain available with Live software updates (on compatible watches).

However, this was also true of previous beta builds, including Beta 10.08. Unfortunately, Garmin has not provided too many details about what changes Beta 9.27 contains, either. Specifically, its changelog lists bug fixes and improvements relating to Garmin's Connect IQ service, albeit without going into specifics. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details, including advice on reporting bugs to the company directly.
