New budget Samsung Galaxy Watch smartwatch detailed before official release
The mystery of Samsung's re-branded Galaxy Watch4 deepens. In summary, reports of the company having prepared a Galaxy Watch4 (2024) surfaced in early February alongside a Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024), which Samsung has since released. However, there has not been any official indication that it will offer up another version of the Galaxy Watch4. Incidentally, Samsung continues to sell the Galaxy Watch4 (curr. $169.99 on Amazon) globally, despite releasing it in August 2021.
According to the typically well-informed Max Jambor, Samsung intends to release the Galaxy Watch4 (2024) at some stage, presumably as a direct successor to the permanently discounted Galaxy Watch4. Please note that Jambor implies that he received this information from undisclosed sources rather than from a regulatory filing, IMEI database result or a retailer listing. At any rate, Jambor dismissed the notion that Samsung would launch a 'Galaxy Watch FE', evidence of which Android Headlines shared earlier this month.
To recap, the website demonstrated that Samsung had assigned the model number 'SM-R886' to the Galaxy Watch FE with global, South Korean and US variants listed as SM-R866F, SM-R866U and SM-R866N, respectively. Although there is nothing to suggest that Samsung could not have developed the Galaxy Watch FE and Galaxy Watch4 (2024), Android Headlines accused Jambor of attempting to 'mislead people'. Unfortunately, it is still unclear how Samsung will distinguish this refresh from the Galaxy Watch4 or in which sizes it will be available.
