The Garmin System Software 15.08 is rolling out to several smartwatches. Previously seen as a beta update, the release brings a wide range of bug fixes to the wearables, tackling issues with workouts and battery estimates. Plus, the latest update brings new GPS firmware to some models.

Garmin is rolling out System Software 15.08 to the Instinct 2, Instinct 2s, Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover smartwatches. This is the first public update for the wearables in 2024, following version 14.12 last year. The software also comes after the release of Beta Version 15.08 earlier this month, which resolved a battery drain issue discovered in v15.06.

System Software 15.08 brings a range of bug fixes to the Instinct Series 2 watches. These include resolving problems when users edit reps in a workout and with the training load calculation. The changelog also notes improvements specific to each model. For example, the 2X receives a bug fix for battery estimates when using the flashlight in battery-saver mode, and an issue with the Crossover's Fitness Age screen display has been resolved. You can find a screenshot of the combined release notes below. Plus, for the Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover devices, the GPS firmware has been updated to version 8.07.

Garmin noted that the software was rolling out in phases, with the forum post suggesting that the software had reached 50% of Instinct 2 series smartwatches. Whether the release has since been completed remains unclear. The update should be automatically pushed to wearables when connected to Bluetooth, though you can manually check for the update in System Settings or install it via Garmin Express.
