The Lenovo Legion Slim 5 powered by an RTX 4060 laptop GPU, a Ryzen 5 7640HS CPU, and 16 GB of DDR5 memory has dropped back down to $899.99 at Best Buy. In addition to the mid-range internals, the laptop brings a 16-inch 1200p display, a 4-zone RGB-backlit keyboard, and an 80 Wh battery.

The 2023 Lenovo Legion Slim 5 is a gaming laptop that sits in the middle of Lenovo’s lineup marrying mid-range hardware with a relatively affordable price. Thanks to a $450 discount on the $1,349.99 list price, the laptop has now become even cheaper, making it a natural choice for budget-conscious gamers.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 5 model on sale, which is now available at Best Buy for only $899.99, packs a 6-core Ryzen 5 7640HS CPU, 16 GB of DRR5-5600 memory, and 512 GB of storage. Both the storage and RAM are expandable with the availability of two SO-DIMM and two M.2 slots.

Around the front, the Legion Slim 5 features a 16-inch IPS panel with a 1200p resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The screen also boasts a 144 Hz refresh rate, 45% NTSC coverage, AMD FreeSync/NVIDIA G-SYNC, and 300 nits of brightness. Unfortunately, the limited color space coverage might be a deal breaker for content creators but, for gamers, the display should suffice.

All in all, with the addition of a 4-zone RGB keyboard, a diverse port selection featuring everything from Type-C with Power Delivery and DisplayPort to an SD card reader, and a large 80 Wh battery, the Legion Slim 5 leaves little to be desired from a hardware perspective.

Fortunately, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 is also a pretty good machine in real-world use. Our review device which packed a Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU and an RTX 4060 (Buy the desktop variant on Amazon) earned a “very good” rating of 88%. The excellent score is thanks in part to the laptop’s understated design, good battery life, and cool operation.

Performance-wise, our review unit showcased strong 1080p gaming chops with titles like Cyberpunk 2077 running at 80+ FPS with ultra quality settings. eSports games like Dota 2 Reborn even maxed out the display’s refresh rate managing more than 130 FPS at FHD/ultra.

Long story short, if you are after a mid-range gaming laptop that doesn’t have embarrassing battery life and can push AAA games at 60+ FPS, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 at the currently reduced price is worth a serious consideration.
